Liberal Zionism is the political ideology of “Enough” Zionism, the epitome of live and let live.

It is based on two truths:

1. Israel exists.

2. Israel has an obligation to treat its neighbors humanely and justly, and all of its citizens and residents humanely and justly, with full legal and functional equal due process and equal rights.

It represents a fulfillment of the dual Israeli identity of Jewish AND democratic, with a strong emphasis on the democratic in the formula.

Hello, Mr. Witty. A couple of us MW refugees at my blog were discussing some developments, or potential developments, on the Israeli political scene, and it occurred to me – let me know if I’m wrong – that you’d be interested in these two articles if you somehow missed them:

    shorter, more recent one: http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/opinion/we-must-stop-the-nationalist-and-racist-lieberman-1.353217

What do you think of Open Zion now banning commentators and instituting rules of a mere 200 words – enough for a sound bite – but no real argument. Are you for or against?

    • I think it is reasonable for Open Zion to require civility in discussion that occurs on its web site.

It is not a party line that is being enforced from what I understand, but simply a requirement that actual reasoning be conveyed, and not threats, not harrassment of other posters by whomever.

I prefer criteria for posting more than outright banning. I’ve not banned anyone on this site.

But, no posts appear automatically. I have certainly banned individual posts.

I prefer other criteria of limiting commentary than length of posts. Specifically, number of posts/day.

In most discussion environments, it is possible to physically show only a dozen lines for example, with a “read further” button, so as not to abuse the geography of page space.
